Plastic Packaging Tax is one of a range of measures included in the UK government’s; “Our Waste, Our Resources” plan designed to protect resources and limit the environmental impact of waste.
Plastic Packaging Tax explained
If your business uses packaging, you will likely have heard about the Plastic Packaging Tax introduced in the UK on 1st April 2022. In short, any plastic packaging that does not contain at least 30% recycled plastic content will be subject to the tax. This will be charged at a rate of £200 per metric tonne of plastic used. The weight of the products sold will be automatically added to your bill of sale at the checkout.
